'Hideout' children's furniture

2017

The Hideout range of children’s furniture was commissioned by HideSeek – a new Christchurch-based company that identified a gap in the market for high quality, NZ made objects that reflect the life and personality of kiwi kids.

The response to the brief was a range that seeks to stimulate the imagination of children by bringing the adventure of the outdoors in to their homes; inspiring them to dream, learn and explore. Each piece is based on an archetypal form immediately recognizable to children, and is executed with the simplicity and style to appeal to design conscious consumers.

The Hideout bed transforms a child’s first bed in to a wood cabin, with a private nook for make-believe play, and windows to peep though. There is also a letterbox you can name and post notes through.

The Hideout table and stool set creates a picnic location with a durable laminate surface for eating and playing. Stools double as a step ladder, light enough to carry to the bathroom to wash hands or brush teeth. The step also provides a place for smaller children to put their feet. Seats tuck away under the table when not being used. The sheet metal folds around in soft curves to make it easy and safe to handle for little hands and feet.

The Hideout Shelf is an easily identifiable piece in the HideSeek range, perfect for displaying much-loved books, birthday cards or treasured objects. The cloud form accentuates the feeling of the room as a wonderland fit for an explorer. The shelf is folded from aluminium and powder coated in cumulus white.
