Introducing Dock: A range of seating that tames wild, natural materials into simple, comforting forms.
The Dock chair features New Zealand long-fibre wool sheepskin upholstered onto a soft, cylindrical backrest. The shape of the backrest supports the body in a warm, and highly tactile embrace.
The expressive materiality of the backrest contrasts with the straightforward Windsor chair construction of the American Oak seat and legs. The thickness of the seat pan allows for a single, strong, split-tenon joint for each leg, without any stretchers or cross rails. A change of angle at the back of the seat provides a place for the bottom to nestle, and gives the chair legs their stance and stability.
Accompanying the chair is a bench that cradles a long, removable sheepskin pillow, secured by oversized rubber bands. The woolly pillow, reminiscent of a giant sheep's tail, sparked the idea for the Dock range. Classic Sheepskins, the supplier of the fleece, is renowned for its ethical farming practices, organic tanning, and unrivalled softness.
