‘In the Making’ sets out to tell the world about Design from Aotearoa—what can only come from here: our materials, our craft and our culture.
We are celebrating the outsider - proudly resourceful, sometimes strange and yet practical. Our aesthetic comes from trying things, reusing things, and occasionally inventing things because the alternative was waiting for a shipment.
Our objective is to expand into the margins and embrace shifting perceptions around manufacturing, craft, materials, sustainability and indigenous culture. To promote these side stories as the backbone of our creative identity. Each year we exhibit a snapshot of a culture and community building itself from the inside, then sending that work outward - still forming, still questioning, still making.
